Strings for Little Stars is an educational organization that endeavors to increase the level of musical appreciation and interest in New Jersey by teaching students how to play stringed instruments. It first started in the Montvale Public Library with the help of Ms. Giulia, who is the program manager at the library.
The program swiftly expanded to include three program levels (Level I, II, and III), catering to beginner players of different skill levels. Strings for Little Stars has also expanded to throughout New Jersey across both violin and cello. The organization also hopes to expand its programs and volunteer work further, including teaching additional orchestral instruments.
Strings for Little Stars also runs an instrumental donation program. With this program, Ryan and his fellow teachers donate instruments to schools and orphanages in impoverished regions and travel to these locations to volunteer their efforts.
Strings for Little Stars was founded and is run by Won (Ryan) Lee, who is a violinist and student at the Bergen County Academies. He has played with several ensembles throughout his life, including his school orchestra, the North Jersey Regional Orchestra, the New Jersey All-State Orchestra, and many volunteer ensembles. He currently resides in Montvale.
